Text Cleaner

ToolZippy’s Text Cleaner is designed for plain-text cleanup. Instead of applying one fixed transformation, you can choose which formatting problems you want to remove.

For example, copied text may contain repeated spaces, tabs, unnecessary blank lines or whitespace at the beginning and end of lines. The cleaner can normalize these issues without requiring you to edit every line manually.

Available Cleanup Options

• Remove extra spaces: converts repeated spaces or tabs within a line into a single space.
• Trim each line: removes spaces and tabs from the beginning and end of individual lines.
• Limit extra blank lines: reduces multiple consecutive blank lines to a single blank separator.
• Remove all blank lines: removes empty lines completely while preserving the remaining line breaks.
• Remove duplicate lines: keeps the first identical non-empty line and removes later duplicates.
• Trim outer whitespace: removes unnecessary whitespace before the first character and after the last character.

Suppose text copied from a document contains repeated spaces and several blank lines. With the default cleanup options, the formatting becomes more consistent while normal paragraph separation is retained.

1. Paste or type the text you want to clean into the input box.

The statistics above the result show the character count before and after processing, the approximate number of characters removed and the number of lines in the cleaned output.

Text cleanup is useful whenever content has been copied between systems that handle spacing and line breaks differently.

This is a formatting cleaner rather than a grammar or rewriting tool. It does not automatically correct spelling, rewrite sentences, change capitalization or decide whether a paragraph is well written.

The tool works with the plain text entered into the box. Rich formatting such as fonts, text colors, document styles, tables and embedded images is not preserved in the output.

The duplicate-line option compares cleaned lines exactly. Two lines with different capitalization or punctuation are treated as different lines. Blank lines are handled separately by the blank-line options.

The cleanup operations on this page are designed to run using JavaScript in your browser. The text is processed by the page to generate the cleaned result without requiring an account.
