How to Calculate Your Exact Age Online
The ToolZippy Age Calculator measures the calendar interval between a date of birth and a selected calculation date. Unlike a rough calculation that divides days by 365, it accounts for actual calendar years and month lengths.
Understanding Your Age Results
Exact calendar age shows completed years, completed months after the last birthday anniversary, and remaining days. This provides a more meaningful calendar-based result than a decimal age.
Total days counts the calendar days between your birth date and the selected date. Full weeks counts completed seven-day periods, while completed months counts whole calendar-month anniversaries.
The birthday countdown identifies the next birthday anniversary on or after the selected date. When checking a future date, the countdown is calculated relative to that future date.
How Does the Age Calculator Work?
Calendar age is measured using anniversaries of a birth date. Completed years increase when the applicable birthday anniversary is reached. Remaining completed months and days are then calculated from that point.
Why Dividing by 365 Is Not Accurate
A normal year has 365 days, but a leap year has 366. Calendar months also vary from 28 to 31 days. Because of these differences, dividing total days by 365 cannot reliably determine exact completed years, months and days.
How Month-End Birthdays Are Handled
Some dates do not exist in every month. For example, February does not contain the 30th or 31st. This calculator uses the last available day of a shorter month when calculating a monthly anniversary.
How February 29 Birthdays Are Handled
February 29 occurs only during leap years. For calendar calculations, this tool treats February 28 as the birthday anniversary in non-leap years. Other systems or jurisdictions may recognize March 1.
Calculating Age on a Past or Future Date
The calculation date does not have to be today. You can select a previous date to find someone’s age at a particular event or select a future date to determine their age at an upcoming milestone.

Age for Children and Infants
For babies and young children, age in months and days can be more useful than age in years alone. The calculator displays both calendar-based age and total elapsed days.
Age for Personal Milestones
Use the calculator to check your age at graduation, on a wedding anniversary, at retirement, or on another important date. The selectable calculation date makes it useful for both historical and future milestones.
Calendar Age Versus Total Time Lived
Calendar age and elapsed time describe different things. Calendar age follows years and months, while total days and full weeks measure elapsed calendar days. Both can be useful depending on what you need to know.
