What Does “Weeks per Year” Mean?
Using 52 weeks assumes the hourly rate and weekly hours continue through all 52 weeks for the purpose of the calculation.
If you expect unpaid periods, seasonal work, contract gaps or other weeks without pay, you can enter a smaller number. For example, using 48 weeks instead of 52 reduces the annual equivalent accordingly.
Part-Time Hourly to Salary Conversion
The same formula works for part-time schedules. You do not need to assume a 40-hour workweek.
For example, at 25 per hour for 20 hours per week over 52 weeks:
Hourly Pay vs Salary
This calculator converts an hourly rate into a mathematical salary equivalent. It does not mean an hourly position and a salaried position with the same calculated annual amount are financially identical.
Actual compensation may also involve overtime, paid leave, bonuses, commissions, allowances, benefits, employer contributions or other terms.
What About Overtime?
This calculator assumes that all entered weekly hours are paid at the hourly rate entered. It does not automatically apply an overtime multiplier.
If your work includes overtime paid at a different rate, calculate that additional pay separately according to the applicable employment terms and rules.
Why Is Monthly Pay an Average?
The monthly figure is calculated as:
This produces an average monthly equivalent. It is not the same as multiplying weekly pay by four because a year contains more than exactly 48 weeks.
How the Daily Equivalent Is Calculated
The daily figure shown by this calculator divides weekly pay by five. It is therefore a simple five-day-workweek equivalent.
If you work a different number of days each week, the displayed daily figure may not represent your actual daily earnings.
Gross Pay vs Take-Home Pay
The results are gross-pay equivalents. The calculator does not subtract income tax, social contributions, insurance, retirement contributions or other deductions.
Take-home pay depends on your location and individual circumstances, so it should not be inferred directly from the gross annual amount shown here.
When This Calculator Is Useful
- Comparing an hourly job with an advertised annual salary.
- Estimating gross annual income from a work schedule.
- Comparing full-time and part-time scenarios.
- Testing the effect of different hourly rates.
- Estimating the effect of unpaid weeks.
- Converting a contractor’s hourly rate into a simple annual equivalent.
- Creating rough income figures for personal budgeting.
Important: This calculator provides a simplified gross-pay conversion based only on the values entered. It does not calculate taxes, overtime rules, benefits, bonuses, commissions, paid-leave arrangements or employment-law entitlements. Verify the relevant employment and tax rules when making important financial decisions.
Hourly to Salary Calculator FAQs
How do I convert hourly pay to annual salary?
Multiply the hourly rate by hours worked per week and then by the number of weeks included in the year. For example, 25 × 40 × 52 = 52,000.
How much is 25 per hour annually?
At 40 hours per week for 52 weeks, 25 per hour is equivalent to 52,000 in annual gross pay before deductions.
Does the calculator work for part-time jobs?
Yes. Enter the actual number of hours worked per week instead of using 40 hours.
Should I always enter 52 weeks?
Not necessarily. Use 52 when you want the calculation to cover 52 weeks. If some weeks are unpaid or excluded, enter the number of weeks that better matches your scenario.
Does this calculator include overtime?
No. All entered hours are calculated at the same hourly rate. Overtime paid at another rate should be calculated separately.
Does the annual result include tax deductions?
No. The result is a gross-pay equivalent before taxes and other deductions.
Why is monthly salary calculated by dividing by 12?
The tool calculates the annual gross equivalent first and divides it by 12 to provide an average monthly equivalent.
Can I use AED, dollars, pounds or euros?
Yes. The calculation itself is currency-neutral. You can enter an optional currency symbol or code to label the displayed results.
Is the hourly to salary calculator free?
Yes. ToolZippy provides the calculator free of charge and no account is required.
