FORMULAS & EXPLANATION

How to Calculate Hourly Wage From Salary

1. Find Your Annual Base Salary

For monthly salary, multiply by 12. For weekly salary, multiply by paid weeks per year. For hourly and daily wages, multiply by the corresponding paid hours or working days.

2. Calculate Paid Working Hours

Subtract unpaid break time from scheduled daily hours. Multiply paid hours per day by working days per week and paid weeks per year.

3. Divide Annual Salary by Annual Paid Hours

The result is your estimated base hourly wage. For example, a salary of AED 12,000 per month over 2,080 annual paid hours gives approximately AED 69.23 per hour.

4. Include Bonuses and Allowances Separately

Annual bonuses and allowances increase total compensation but do not automatically change your contractual base wage. The calculator reports both figures.

5. Compare Different Jobs

When comparing job offers, use the same definition of paid working time, salary components and benefits. Two identical monthly salaries can have different effective hourly wages.
