How to Blur an Image Online
ToolZippy’s Blur Image editor applies a soft-focus effect to an entire image. It uses the browser’s canvas drawing features to display the result and export a PNG copy.
Select a photo or drag it into the editor.
Move the slider or choose a preset.
View original and blurred images together.
Save the finished image as PNG.
What does image blur do?
Blurring softens edges and fine details by blending nearby image information. A low blur radius produces a subtle effect, while a larger radius creates a softer, less detailed appearance.
Understanding the blur levels
No blur applied.
Gentle softening.
Visible soft-focus effect.
Significant detail reduction.
When is a blurred image useful?
Full-image blur is useful for soft backgrounds, presentation graphics, creative photography, banners and other designs where sharp detail would be distracting. The effect depends on both the chosen radius and the image resolution.
Does blurring change the image dimensions?
The editor creates an output canvas using the source image’s natural pixel width and height. It does not intentionally resize the image. The PNG file size may differ from the uploaded file, especially when the original is a JPEG or WebP.
Full-image blur versus selective blur
This editor blurs the whole image. It does not include a brush, face detector or selection tool for blurring only a particular area.
Browser processing and supported formats
The editor is designed to load and process the selected image in your browser, without uploading it for the blur operation. It accepts common raster formats supported by your browser, including JPG, PNG and WebP. Animated images are processed as a still frame. SVG is excluded. Large images can use substantial device memory, so this version limits uploads to 20 MB and 24 megapixels.
